Canada Privacy Privacy Deficit Free & Open Internet

Dozens of community events are taking place across Canada on Saturday to #RejectFear and #StopC51

Events have been organized not by organizations, but by everyday Canadians wanting to take a stand against what experts have described as a “Secret Police” bill

OpenMedia’s privacy campaigner David Christopher said: “It’s really inspiring to see everyday Canadians come together to organize such a comprehensive series of events right across the country. This shows just how unpopular Bill C-51 has become - a strong majority of Canadians now oppose this reckless, dangerous, and ineffective legislation. It’s time for the government to show they can listen to Canadians by scrapping this bill.”

The House of Commons is due to debate Bill C-51 on Friday April 24th. Nearly 200,000 Canadians have now signed the petition against the bill at StopC51.ca
