There is no doubt the Internet is a revolutionary tool that will shape the type of society we aspire to. But is the digital revolution headed in the right direction? Or does it need our help?

Join us in Vancouver for Who Will Win the Digital Revolution?, featuring guest speakers Robert McChesney and John Nichols, lead thinkers on media reform and co-founders of Free Press, a digital rights organization that supports people’s freedom to connect and communicate in our online world.

McChesney and Nichols will host a conversation on their new book: People Get Ready: The Fight Against a Jobless Economy and a Citizenless Democracy.

The event will take place at 6.30pm Pacific Time, on Sunday 6 March, at the Central Branch of the Vancouver Public Library, 350 W Georgia St, Vancouver. (Alice Mackay room)
 

WHO:

Robert McChesney is the Gutgsell Endowed Professor in the Department of Communication at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and the author or editor of twenty-three books. His work has been translated into thirty languages. He is the cofounder of Free Press, a national media-reform organization. In 2008 the Utne Reader listed McChesney among their “fifty visionaries who are changing the world.” He lives in Madison, Wisconsin.

John Nichols, a pioneering political blogger, has written The Nation’s Online Beat since 1999, is their Washington D.C. correspondent, and is a contributing writer for The Progressive and In These Times. He is also the associate editor of the Capital Times, the daily newspaper in Madison, Wisconsin, and a cofounder of Free Press. His articles have appeared in the New York Times, Chicago Tribune, and dozens of other newspapers, and he frequently appears on MSNBC, NPR, BBC, and other broadcast media outlets as a commentator on politics and media issues. Nichols lives in Madison, Wisconsin, and Washington, DC.
