Canada Free & Open Internet

Revealed: Holiday pricing change from Shaw means 10% higher fees and 40% slower Internet service

Tabish continued: “This is one more reason Canadians should consider switching to smaller, independent, more affordable ISPs like TekSavvy and Distributel. This unexpected price-hike also underlines our recent presentation to the CRTC where we represented over 30,000 Canadians calling for fair, open access rules to stop large telecom providers from blocking access to more affordable independent providers. Without these common sense rules, there’s little to prevent telecom giants like Shaw from continuing to cut service speeds while price-gouging Canadians.”

Canadians can speak out by phoning Shaw to complain, and by protesting on Twitter using the #CallShaw hashtag.
