Fresh Media: Media Innovation Event to Stream Live to a National Audience

Dialogue with CBC Radio 3’s Steve Pratt to include all Canadians through Video and Twitter Feed

November 2, 2010, Vancouver BC – After two very successful Remixology sessions, Fresh Media’s will hold its third monthly event on November 6, 2010, as an after-party for Media Democracy Day. This event, which will take place at the W2 Storyeum Salon (151 W Cordova), will be the basis for a live interactive web TV show available to a national audience.

Remixology is a series bringing people together, on both a local and a national scale, to sample and share ideas in discussions led by some of the country’s most well-known media innovators. Remixology 3 will feature an interactive dialogue with Steve Pratt, director of CBC Radio 3 and CBC Digital Programming on the question, “What is the future of media?” CBC Radio 3 is widely considered one of Canada most innovative media projects.

From coast to coast, all Canadians will have the opportunity to make their voices/tweets heard in real time using Twitter, or live online chat. Those who are interested in viewing or participating in this Remixology can tune in here: http://openmedia.ca/Remixology at 7PM PST (10PM EST), and join the Twitter conversation by including “#remixology” (without quotes) in their tweets. Other media outlets will also host the live video stream, including J-Source.

Karen Pinchin, Vancouver editor of the new collaborative community news site, Open File, will be moderating the event.

Remixology 3 will also feature amazing local music, including Buckman Coe and DJ Brad Winters in the late evening (additional bands will be announced). Attendees will have the opportunity to socialize and network with other media makers.

This month’s Fresh Media event is the official after party for Media Democracy Day, a fundraiser for the Vancouver Community Television Association (VCTA), and the launch party for OpenFile.ca Vancouver.
