We’re suing the government about spying on law-abiding Canadians - Ask us Anything!

Thanks to everyone who took the time to join us tonight. We've had a great conversation and it's clear Canadians have many questions about secret spying. If you've yet to do so, join the thousands of Canadians speaking out against reckless and expensive mass surveillance at https://OpenMedia.ca/CSEC Last October, the BC Civil Liberties Association and OpenMedia.ca announced that they are taking the government to stop CSEC’s blanket spying on law-abiding Canadians. We’ve compiled the five most frequently asked questions about the case, and we’re taking them straight to the two people who can best answer them.

Josh Paterson is the Director of the BC Civil Liberties Association with a long and successful career defending the human rights of some of the most marginalized people in Canada. Steve Anderson is the Founder and Executive Director of OpenMedia.ca, an award-winning community-based organization that safeguards the possibilities of the open Internet, by engaging hundreds of thousands of people in protecting our online rights.

Josh and Steve will be joining us for a Social Media Town Hall today Thursday 20 February at 5pm PT / 8pm ET. They need to hear from you -send us your questions about CSEC spying using the comments section below.

We’ll be taking your questions and putting them to Josh and Steve. We’ll also be asking these five key questions about the case that Canadians have been asking:

1. What is the court case about?
2. Do we have any evidence that the government has been scooping up our private information?
3. Why should Canadians be concerned about warrantless online spying?
4. The case has been filed. What now?
5. What can Canadians do to ensure their right to privacy is respected and protected?

Join Josh and Steve today from 5-6.30pm PT / 8-9.30pm ET for our live Social Media Town Hall. Here’s how you can take part:
