Vancouver MP shows his support for Internet

NDP’s Member of Parliament for the Vancouver Kingsway riding, Don Davies, points out the negative impacts of Usage Based Billing and warns against the takeover of the Internet by Big Telecom companies in a newsletter to his supporters.

After more than 450,000 Canadians have signed the StopTheMeter petition, it is time to focus on community engagement and to ensure that all Canadians have a clear understanding of what is at stake. “We must stand together to ensure an open, free, and democratic internet,” says Don Davies in a letter published on his website and sent out to his subscribers.

As Davies also mentions, the CRTC is accepting input from the general public that will help the commission in reconsidering UBB and billing rules. “Please tell the CRTC that big Telecom companies should not control how we use the Internet,” Davies appeals to his supporters.

Comments can be sent to the CRTC until April 29, 2011.
