OpenMedia takes on Provencher, MB

We’ve been busy at OpenMedia.ca fighting to keep your Internet open, affordable, and surveillance-free. Check out the ads we recently ran for our Stop Online Spying campaign.

We targeted Vic Toews' small Manitoba riding of Provencher, Manitoba (voting population just over 60,000 people) to inform and engage citizens about the government's impending online spying legislation. Over one week, our pro-Internet ads...

  • ..hit major Manitoba papers the Winnipeg Sun and the Winnipeg Free Press
  • ..nearly 13,000 flyers appeared in the towns of Emerson and Steinbach (this is where Toews lives)
  • ..targeted ads showed up on Facebook
  • ..online ads were placed on MySteinbach.ca

Donors and supporters have helped us kick-start this campaign and give it a new edge. With this campaign we’ve managed to reach out to people in the community of Provencher through a series of witty and informative ads.

We need Toews to thoroughly consider how online spying impacts Internet openness, our right to privacy, and affordable Internet access. The petition is going strong and it is truly thanks to supporters and followers like you that we have been able to advance public scrutiny of this proposed online spying bill.
